Attention customers.
At EthioTrans we are trying to accommodate your needs as best we can. But
sometimes your requests may be beyond our capability due to resource
availability and limitation. One example may be font limitation and
capability.
The Amharic/Ethiopic fonts come in different
varieties and styles. There is no a special rule or standard that governs the
type of keyboard layout and font style.
Since each software vendor has its own
standard and style, which is unique and lacks common features with any other
software makers, we have had difficulties in getting the right software for a
few of our customers.
We have several customers requesting
different kind of fonts and we tried to give our customers most of the things
they wanted. But we do not have any control if that particular font is not
working smoothly with other third party applications such as MS Word, Adobe
products and Quark. Therefore, we advise our customers to be aware of such
limitations before trying to find the best font for their product. One way of
finding out about these limitations is by asking the software vendor or maker
about known limitations before deciding which font is best for your project.
Some software makers put a FAQ site that
covers known limitations for their software and are willing to accept new bugs
from their prospective consumers.
For your information, we make this table
available with a partial list of Amharic/Ethiopic software makers. This list is
based on a table found at:
http://libeth.sourceforge.net/CharacterSets.html. We apologize in advance
if we have forgotten any companies. We will update the table as frequently as
we can.
