Immediate Press Release

ETHIOTRANS SUPPORTS 100 WORLD LANGUAGES.

On July 10, 2004, Ethiotrans, a San Diego-based localization and translation company, announced that it will now support 100 world languages for its clients worldwide. The company was founded in 1999 by Yebbo Communication Networks, which initially offered free translation services for its website visitors. However, as demand for translation services grew, the company’s founder decided to combine his localization software engineering skills and native language experience to create Ethiotrans.com.

In February 2002, the company began by offering support for its founder’s native language, Amharic, and later added Oromo, Somali, and Tigrinya. As demand for language support grew, the company expanded its offerings to include East African languages like Dinka, Nuer, Swahili, and Ibo.

However, expanding the company’s language support was not without challenges, such as finding the right person for the right project and finding the right tools for the right assignments. This was due to a lack of networking and technology support in African countries, where many software applications did not support Unicode and reliable internet access was not available.

Despite these challenges, Ethiotrans has helped several companies, organizations, individuals, and businesses worldwide by resolving conflicts and producing life-changing products. The company has also received calls from all over the world for various reasons, from helping people name their pets to helping researchers find the origin of manuscripts.

With a growing number of satisfied and returning clients, Ethiotrans is now confident in its ability to produce high-quality work and sees a bright future ahead. The company hopes that more software companies will add support for African languages to their products and that companies, organizations, and government offices will also begin to include African languages as part of their language support in the near future. Today, Ethiotrans is celebrating this milestone of expanding its language support beyond just African languages.
